"Laurel & Hardy"

United Artists of Great Britain and America

Two comedy skit notes based on British Treasury notes. Treasury banknotes were issued from 1914 to 1928, with these designs being current from the end of the Great War. Relating to the popular comedy duo of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy who, in 2005, were voted 7th greatest comedy act of all time in a poll of professional British comedians.

The Ten Shilling note features Stan Laurel with Britannia and and the £1 features Oliver Hard with St George and the dragon.

The notes stay faithful to the original design, whilst being unmistakably a tribute to Laurel and Hardy. Some interesting details, including "These Notes are not Legal Tender for the payment of any amount"

A good quality, well-designed pair of notes.

This is part of a collection of modern comedy skit banknotes that we will be listing over the next few weeks.
