BESCHREIBUNG
Prachtvolles und großformatiges Bibelblatt aus einer Biblia latina.
Das Blatt stammt aus dem Alten Testament, aus dem Buch der Makkabäer.
Auf Pergament.
AUSSTATTUNG
Zweispaltige, filigrane gotische Schrift in 53 bzw. 54 Zeilen,
geschrieben in brauner Tinte in lateinischer Sprache.
Mit Kapitelüberschrift und verzierten Kommentaren in den Außenrändern.
Vorder- und Rückseite mit je einer Federwerk-Initiale in Rot und Blau
mit floralem Rankenwerk (Fleuronnée) ausgestattet, das über die Hälfte des Blattes reicht.
Abmessungen Blatt: 28,5 x 19 cm; Schriftspiegel: 21 x 12 cm.
ZUSTAND
Sehr gute Erhaltung für das hohe Alter von über 700 Jahren.
Gleichmäßig pergamentbedingt leicht gebräunt, in den Rändern etwas stärker gebräunt.
In den Ecken wenig fleckig.
Volle Ränder, breitrandiges Blatt.
Umfangreiche Handschriften vor 1200 sind weltweit so gut wie nicht mehr zu finden.
Zu gering war bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt die Bedeutung und Verbreitung des geschriebenen Wortes.
Das frühe 13. Jahrhundert brachte viele Veränderungen für das mittelalterliche Europa.
So entstanden in dieser Zeit viele gotische Kathedralen (z.B. in Chartres, Rheims und Canterbury)
und somit klerikale Großzentren. Eine Konsequenz dessen war die Gründung von Orden wandernder Prediger
(Franziskaner, 1209 oder Dominikaner, 1220). Diese zogen von Ort zu Ort, lasen und predigten die Bibel
und verbreiteten so die Lehre des Klerus.
In dieser Zeit entstanden ebenso viele Universitäten und das „Wissen“ zog in die Städte ein
und war nun nicht mehr nur auf Klöster begrenzt. Somit gewannen auch die Handschriften
bzw. handgeschriebenen Bücher an Bedeutung und die Verbreitung dieser begann.

The leaf is from the Old Testament, from the Book of Maccabees. On vellum. LAYOUT Two-column, filigree Gothic script in 53 and 54 lines, written in brown ink in Latin. With chapter headings and decorated comments in the outer margins. Front and back decorated with one penwork initial each in red and blue with floral vine work (fleuronnée) extending over half of the leaf. Dimensions Leaf: 28.5 x 19 cm; Type area: 21 x 12 cm. CONDITION Very good condition for the great age of over 700 years. Uniformly lightly browned due to vellum, somewhat more brownstained in the margins. A little bit stained in the corners. Full margins, sheet with wide margins. |
Extensive manuscripts before 1200 are almost impossible to find worldwide. The importance and dissemination of the written word was too small up to this time. The early 13th century brought many changes to medieval Europe. Many Gothic cathedrals (e.g. in Chartres, Rheims and Canterbury) and thus major clerical centres were built during this period. One consequence of this was the founding of orders of itinerant preachers (Franciscans, 1209 or Dominicans, 1220). These went from place to place, reading and preaching the Bible and thus spreading the teachings of the clergy. During this time, many universities were also founded and "knowledge" moved into the cities and was no longer limited to monasteries.
