When the Munich band Sodom made the youth centers unsafe with their thrash metal, no one suspected what an influential, still incredible work the group, renamed Sieges Even in 1987, would present in 1988: the debut "Life Cycle". There were certainly demanding heavy bands in Germany, but the later founded (!) Mekong Delta were the only ones up to that point that deliberately used elements of progressive rock (King Crimson, Yes, etc.). Instead, insiders tried to understand the first LP by the Americans Watchtower, who were also a big influence on Dream Theater at the beginning. "Life Cycle" by Sieges Even is in no way inferior to Allen the bands and albums mentioned, and can even gain bonus points in terms of production. The demo tape "Repression And Resistance" already showed this development impressively.
Despite the insanely complex material, Sieges Even manage to keep the metal and thrash content so high on this album that even inexperienced listeners grabbed it when the LP was in stores in 1988 (Steamhammer/SPV). Even the Epic Metal creeps into the mostly overly long tracks ("Straggler Of Atlantis", "David"), whose lyrical content is far from the then usual textual mishmash (death, devil, party). The album was produced in Karo Studio by Kalle Trapp, who was in demand in rock and metal circles at the end of the 1980s. "Life Cycle" occupies a special status in the discography of the Munich group, because the thrash content already dropped with the successor and over the years, other target groups were won over, also with the successor band Subsignal. Also, the distinctive voice of Franz Herde can only be heard on the first two releases.
This genre classic was actually only available in the LP or CD version from 1988 and costs a few euros as a second-hand product. Golden Core are proud to present this groundbreaking album in a remastered form
