After the outbreak of the Pacific War in 1941, the Jin Pu railway across Shandong became one of the important strategic communication lines for the Japanese army in Chinese Mainland. Around Zaozhuang section of Jinpu railway, there is a folk Anti Japanese guerrilla active. This guerrilla is mainly composed of several railway workers in Zaozhuang railway station. The captain is Ma Yuan (Chenglong), who is the foreman of the railway station. They worked in the railway station occupied and managed by the Japanese during the day and went out for secret activities at night. Using their familiarity with the railway line and their special skills of picking up and driving trains, they fought with a large number of well-equipped Japanese regular troops with a small guerrilla group, which caused a great impact. The local people gave this group a loud name, called the railway Flying Tigers.
