First edition of Blaise Pascal's Pensées, published in Paris in 1670. This is the official first edition of the first printing, published the year after the 1669 edition (preoriginale), of which only two copies are known to exist, including the one in the Bibliothèque Nationale de France. This is a rare edition of one of the most famous books representing early modern Europe, and is sought after by many people around the world.

Condition : Slight stain on the margin of about 10 pages, and a tear on the margin of one page (no loss). Otherwise, the book is clean and in good condition. Currently out of print or out of print by the publisher.
Bound in full leather, with gilt stamping of the lettering design on the spine and vermilion dyeing on three sides, this copy was bound in its original binding at that time. No missing pages.
