“The warm delay sound, distinctive reverb and subtle chorus effect are all hallmarks of the unmistakable tone that thousands of guitar players and record producers have found so addictive over the years.”

This Roland RE-301 has recently been serviced ready for sale. Some spare tapes included too. No printed manual, but we do have a PDF scan of the original manual we can provide. Due to its value and fragile nature, we do not want to ship it. Collection only from Gloucestershire.

The Roland RE-301 tape echo came out in 1977 and although it departed from the Roland Space Echo nomenclature, it is visibly part of the same family. It looked almost identical to the RE-201 but has two distinguishable features – a lush analogue chorus effect that could be used together or independently with the delay effect, additional with a new “sound on sound” mode, allowing users to loop phrases and record additional layers on top. This concept at the time contributed to the development of ‘looping’, a phenomenon that would become huge years later.

Features:

-       You can freely combine each of chorus, echo and reverb effects to produce varied effect sound.

-       Sound on Sound effect, which enables duet by a single instrument by doubled performance by reproducing input sound 10-30 seconds later or by adding another effect sound.

-       Twin output system is employed to enhance chorus effect, sound dispersion and echo effect, which assures rich acoustic effect and stereophonic feeling.

-       Wow and flutter is minimized by use of free-running system, which also serves to extend the tape life over 300 hours.
