Bank of England - £1 Banknote - 1970 JB Page type. Serial Number HS16 017977 in superb crisp and clean Uncirculated Condition.
Signed JB Page as Chief Cashier, served 1970 - 1980.
Catalogue References:- Pick#374g and Dugg. #B322. Sought after, iconic One Pound Banknote, scarcer type, one of the very last to be issued for circulation - the Final Series prefix was HZ63.
Serial Number is HS16 017977 at the top left and lower right on the front. On the face of the note is Queen Elizabeth II's portrait in an oval at the right, with a seated Britannia motif at the lower left side of the portrait.
This design was first used for £1 Banknotes in 1960, the notes were signed by the then Chief Cashier LK O'Brien. This design was used up until 1978, when a new smaller sized £1 note was issued. This series of £1 notes to be legal tender and were withdrawn from circulation on 31 May 1979.
NB - In common with all Bank of England Notes withdrawn from circulation, notes of this type, whilst no longer legal tender do retain their face value, as they can be exchanged indefinitely, at the Bank of England by post or in person. Fortunately for collectors, some people do actually do this without realising the banknote's value on the collectors market, thus increasing the rarity of the note type!
The note is clean, crisp and bright. It has seen not seen any circulation and therefore grades Uncirculated.

Shipping/handling: UK and Europe: £2.49 for regular mail of up to 20 grams weight - normally about 10 banknotes in total, (buyer’s risk, not recommended!) or £6.30 for registered/insured (Necessary for all items or groups of items with a value exceeding £30). Rest of World: £3.49 for regular mail of up to 20 grams weight - normally about 10 banknotes in total (buyer’s risk, not recommended) or £10.90 for registered mail (seller’s risk, necessary for all items or groups of items with a value exceeding £30). Multiple wins/items are batched and sent at no extra cost, unless weight is significantly higher, above 20 grams.
NB. Please do not pay until you receive my invoice, especially if you have won more than one item, as I always combine the postage packing and shipping costs, so that you save on postage. I do of course appreciate it if you pay quickly but I am sure you wouldn't want to be paying too much for postage. If you do overpay I will usually refund you through the eBay system, before I send your item or items.

PLEASE NOTE ALL ITEMS ARE NOW MAILED FROM MY CURRENT LOCATION IN ITALY, posted the same day that payment is received or the next working day after payment, if made at the weekend. When I am in the UK, I may post from there. Some deliveries may take longer than normal to arrive, this is not my fault, merely the result of the RECENT problems since March 2020, experienced within the International Postal System!
