Diese Metall-Kreuz-Ikone gehört der Gruppe der Prozessions- bzw. Vortragekreuze an, die jede Prozession der äthiopischen orthodoxen Kriche begleiten. Es besitzt einen hohlen Schaft, mit dem es auf einen hölzernen Stab gesteckt wird. Bei Prozessionen und religösen Zeremonien kann es so über den Köpfen der Menge getragen werden. Am unteren Ende befinden sich zwei Querbalken. Durch diese wird ein Streifen Stoff gezogen, mit dem das Kreuz von den Diakonen getragen werden kann. Der Stoff soll an die Leiden Christi erinnern. Wie jedes der weltberühmten äthiopischen Kreuze wurde auch dieses Kreuz im traditionellen Wachsausschmelzverfahren als Unikat hergestellt.
Äthiopische Ikonen werden - eine Besonderheit in der Ikonenmalkunst - bis heute in der alten Tradition hergestellt. Was ihre Formen betrifft, befinden sich unter ihnen vorwiegend Diptychen und Triptychen und nur sehr selten einzelne Tafeln. Im Gegensatz zu byzantinischen Ikonen weisen äthiopische Ikonen einen eher volkstümlichen Charakter auf. Ihre Malerei ist in der Regel durch eine kraftvolle Farbpalette, den Verzicht auf Perspektive und die Frontalität der Gestalten sowie Gesichter mit großen Augen geprägt. Die Ikonenmalerei reicht in Äthiopien bis in das 15. Jahrhundert zurück.

This Cross metal icon belongs to the group of processional crosses which accompanies each procession of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. It has a hollow shaft for mounting on a wooden handle, so that it can be carried above the heads of people in processions and religous ceremonies. The two lower arms are made for the hanging of the cloth which accompanies the Cross when it is carried by the deacons. The cloth reminds on Christ's dresses. The Cross is handcraftet by the lost-wax method, so that it is unique.
Ethiopian Icons are - as a particular feature in the icon painting - manufactured by using the old traditions until the present day. What concerns their form, you can mainly find diptychs and triptychs and very rarely single panels. On the contrary to byzantine icons Ethiopian Icons show a more popular character. The paintings on them have mostly a powerfull range of colours. They renounce on perspective and the frontality of the figures whose faces have big eyes. The painting of icons in Ethiopia dates back to the 15th century.

La icône de la croix en métal fait partie du group de croix de procession qui accompagnent chaque procession de l'eglise éthiopienne orthodox. El a une poignée creuse, grâce à lequel el peut ètre embrochée sur un bâton en bois. De cette manière c'est possible, à l'occassion des processions et cérémonies religeuses de la porter au- dessus des têtes de la foule. Le bout est composé e deux petites poutres transversales. A fin de faciliter le transport de la croix une bande de tissu a été integrée (comme bras de levier), ce tissu est avec lequel les diacres peuvent porter la croix. Le tissu est censé de rappeler aux vêtement de Jésus Christ. Comme chacuen des fameuses croix éthiopiennes fabriqués en argent, elle fabriquée de manière artisanale c'est à dire à travers la pocédure traditionelle de cire fondante. C'est pourquoi chaque pièce est unique.
Les icônes ethiopiennes sont - comme particularité de la peinture des icônes - peints jusqu'au jour présent en utilisant la tradition ancienne. En ce qui concerne leur forme il y a principalement des diptyques et des tryptiques entre eux - les pannaux seuls sont très rare. Au contraire des icônes byzantines, les icônes ethiopiennes font plutôt preuve d'un caractère populaire. Leur peinture est le plus souvent marqué par une gamme de couleurs forte, le renconcement de la perspective et la frontalité des figures ainsi que les visages avec les yeux grands. La peinture d'icônes date du 15. ième siècle.

La cruz de metal-icono pertence al grupo de las cruces procesionales, que acompaña cada misa y procesión de la iglesia ortodoxa en Etiopía. Normalmente tiene un fuste carvernoso, con lo cual está metido sobre un basón de leña. De esta manera se puede procesionarla sobre las cabezas de la gente en cermemonías religiosas. Los dos anillos al base de la cruz sirven para amarrar un pedazo de de tela, lo cual conmemora al vestido de Jesucristo. La cruz está hecho a mano por el procedimiento tradicional de derretido de cera, lo que la hace un ejemplar único.
Iconos etíopes están - una particularidad en la pintura de los iconos - hasta el día presente manufacturados en la tradición anciana. En lo que concierne la forma hay en la mayor parte dypticos y trypticos entre ellos y muy raramente planchas solas. Al contrario de los iconos bizantinos, los iconos etiopes muestran más bien un carácter popular. Su pintura se caracteriza en general por su gama vigorosa de colores diferentes, por la renuncia de la perspectiva y la frontalidad de las figuras así como las caras con los ojos grandes. La pintura de los iconos en Etiopía data del siglo 15.

Questa croce-icona di metallo appartiene al gruppo dei croci da processione utilizzati duranti riti religiosi della Chiesa copta ortodossa Etiopica. Normalmente viene montato su un lungo bastone die lgeno, in modo che viene portata dai diaconi sopra la testa della gente nelle ceremonie religiose. Le due annelli in basso serveno per appendere il drappo di stoffa che ricorda quello indossato da Cristo durante la sua Crocifissione. La Croce a fatto a mano con il metodo della cera persa, il motivo per qui è unica.
Le Icone etiopi hanno una particolare caratteristica di pittura, sono fatti a mano utilizzando le vecchie tradizioni acnora oggi.
