They are not the shiny reproduction ones that you see from other sellers that look fake, these are just straight rubber and will make your piece look awesome.

Red hoses are optional  -- rumor has it the first few thousand sets of them made (overseas) came with the red hoses and the box art on the boulder hill play set shows the red hoses.  After the first few thousand runs, they switched to black, but never updated the box art so some customers like to do red or buy both so they can mix it up.

The same size hoses also fit the Venom's Revenge action figure jet pack and also the Pit Stop Catapult gas tank.
