Oil painted from photos we took on vacation to Isla Mujeres, Mexico. It was a stunningly beautiful day and the painting evokes happy memories and features my favorite color: glowing Caribbean blue. On the windy coast, there are many craggy boulders and stones, along with wild grown sea grasses and plant life, which I captured in oil paint, my beloved dogs, Maggie and Daisy, at my side.

I paint from thin to thick, dark to light and use a variety of brushstrokes to create the many textures in this scene.  This is the second painting in a series. This is a smaller painting at 6” x 8” and I have included pics of mock-ups should you add a plein air frame after purchasing it, as well as pic of it in my studio.

About me:

A native Ohioan, throughout the years, I received 3 advanced degrees in art from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and Kent State University. I have worked in graphic design, love art and have especially enjoyed beautiful landscapes, seascapes and drawings. I have also dabbled in graphite, colored pencil and charcoal. I enjoy loose, painterly styles. I have also worked very tight and realistic in the past. I have sold commissions in the past and online. After a hiatus of several years, due to chronic pain issues and multiple surgeries, I have decided to pick up my artist tools again.  My painting style can be described as experimental, painterly, loose, Impressionist-inspired and respectful of the beauty of nature. I layer my oils from to thin to thick, using mostly artist grade extra fine oils from companies like Winsor & Newton and a French company, Lefranc & Bourgeois. My artist supports are typically gessoed birch boards, hardboards, canvas panels and canvasses. Your original comes perfectly packaged with protective glassine covering the art, an acid-free bag and contains cushioning material to protect the art. I include a certificate of authenticity.
