A two-volume set of "NATURGESCHICHTE DER AUSLANDISCHEN FISCHE" (1786/87), compiled by the German naturalist and one of the most distinguished ichthyologists of the 18th century, Marcus Eliezer Bloch. 

The two volumes contain a total of 108 hand-colored copperplate engravings, and are masterpieces of fish art, highly regarded worldwide from an artistic point of view for the precision of their drawing, engraving, and printing, as well as the care with which they were hand-colored. This copy is in excellent condition with no missing pages or pages with chips.


Maximum external size 125*205mm. 280 pages in the middle volume + 54 copperplate engravings. Lower volume 260 pages + 54 copperplate engravings.


Condition: Very Good Condition. 
Exterior scratches, old period Chinese writing on the back of several illustrations (see 10th image). Otherwise, clean and in very good condition.
