Mercury Silver Dimes - Background & Design:

Weinman’s design featured on the obverse a young woman wearing a cap with wings on her head. On the reverse the dime had a bundle of sticks with an axe blade all tied together with straps, making the ancient symbol of a fasces, which was surrounded by an olive branch.


Mercury Dime Grading Scale & Guidelines:

As understood and in relation to condition notes and guidelines, a mercury dime in "Fine" condition typically shows moderate even wear over the entire surface of the coin. The primary design elements are visible, all lettering, legends, and date are clear and readable.

Obverse: There are more details show on the head of Lady Liberty. Some features shown in the hair and the feathers on the wings. But, in regard to the details that can be seen, most are flat and indistinct.

Reverse: A portion of vertical lines in the rods on the fasces are visible but lack detail. If visible, the horizontal and diagnal bands are worn and lack strong detail. They may be worn smooth at the very center.
