S-VHS PICTURE WITH MORE THAN 400 LINES OF HORIZONTAL RESOLUTION AND SEPARATE Y/C INPUT-OUTPUT.

To provide professional and institutional users with the superlative picture quality they need, the BR-S600U offers S-VHS recording and playback. S-VHS records the luminance signal at a higher carrier frequency with greater frequency deviation than VHS, delivering a clear, sharp picture with more than 400 lines of horizontal resolution. For improved color, the S-VHS system processes luminance (Y) and chrominance (C) signals separately, virtually eliminating mutual interference between these components. It all adds up to a picture with clearer contrasts, sharper details, and true-to-life color reproduction. HI-FI STEREO SOUND

To compliment highest quality S-VHS pictures, the BR-S600U offers superb Hi-Fi VHS stereo sound with a dynamic range of more than 85dB. DIRECT TAPE ACCESS FUNCTIONS

The BR-S600U features a variety of tape access functions which permit rapid access to specific points on any tape. This makes it easy to show customers what they're interested in or show students what they need to know. These functions include:

* "Time Go-To" -- moves the tape to a point specific distance in time from the tape's beginning

* "VHS Index Search" --makes it easy to find any of up to 9 indexed programs in either direction from any point on the tape. Index codes are recorded at the beginning of each program with the provided MARK/ERASE buttons and can be added or deleted as desired

* "Intro Search" -- automatically locates all indexed programs and plays back a 5-second segment from the beginning of each program in fast-motion.

A half-loading mechanism allows all of these functions to operate in the high-speed FF and REW modes, as well as in Shuttle Search.

VISUAL SEARCH FUNCTIONS

In addition to direct tape access, the BR-S600U offers several visual search and special-effects playback features. These include forward and reverse variable-speed search, double-speed playback, shuttle search at 7x normal, and still/frame advance.
