Queen's Sapphire Jubilee £5 Silver Coin With Gold Ink & Real Sapphire and COA in a beautiful wooden box.

Queen Elizabeth, the longest reigning monarch in Britain and the the Commonwealth had Britain’s first Sapphire Jubilee ever, marking 65 years of her reign which started in 1952. This special edition from the Bailiwick of Jersey is Silver with Gold inlays with a real sapphire to mark this historic event.

The Bailiwick of Jersey is a Crown Dependency of the United Kingdom and the largest of the Islands in the British Channel and its history as part of the British Empire dates back to when Vikings raided the island in 933 during the Norman Period and it was annexed by William Longsword. When Duke William the Conqueror became King of England in 1066, the first Norman King of Britain, the island remained under Norman rule and since then has been part of Britain and in the 1640’s, after King Charles II’s exile in Jersey, he rewarded Vice Admiral Sir George Carteret for his loyalty with the area of what was then the American Colonies with a large land grant between the Hudson River and Delaware River which he promptly name New Jersey after the Island King Charles II was “detained” on.
