1986 marked some changed in the Mercedes model line in many ways:

·         The fully spoilered, sport-tuned, limited edition 190E 2.3-16 is introduced to the U.S.

·         New 300-class:  The newly designed models feature no more chrome

·         New body side-panels and alloy wheels for the S-class

·         New 5.6 liter engine to replace the 5.0 liter for the S-class and 3.8 liter SL

·         The 420 SEL replaces 380 SEL
