Lemon verbena is a perennial shrub or sub shrub growing to 1 to 3 meters (3 to 9.8 ft) high. The 8 centimeters (3.1 in)-long, glossy, pointed leaves are slightly rough to the touch and emit a strong lemon scent when bruised (hence the Latin specific epithet citronella lemon-scented).
Seeds collected from last season are viable and suitable for planting.
