Here is a vintage hardcover book titled Pioneering the Telephone in Canada. It was written by William Patten and published in 1926. It is a Pioneers Edition which was limited to two thousand copies. There is no publisher listed. It is 139 pages in length and measures about 6.5 inches wide, 9.5 inches long and 0.9 inches thick. The book presents the history of the telephone, "based on original notes and reminiscences including a hitherto unpublished account of the telephone by A. Melville Bell." The contents inlcude the invention of the telephone, the first telephone exchange in Canada, efforts to secure control of the invention, building a public utility - and more. The text is accompanied by sepia coloured photo images. It is an interesting read!

Condition: It is in fair condition. There is moderate edgewear and soiling to the cover with tears at the top and bottom spine, and worn corner tips. There is moderate soiling to the outside of the page ends and minor soiling, with light tanning, to the endpapers. The pages are intact and unmarked by notations or highlighting. Soil marks are noted on a number of the pages with an old water stain that appears at the top border of page 65 and on subsequent pages. There is significant foxing to all the pages. The book has been stored for some time and may have a slight musty odour.
