This variety of the Dragon Fruit is typical of tropical forests, it is widespread throughout Central America, Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico, and also in the north of Latin America. It has a creeping or climbing habit, it develops very large flowers, up to 30 cm long and the flowering normally takes place at night. The stem has a triangular shape and reaches a diameter of 10-12 cm. It likes very bright locations all year round even if direct sun in summer should be avoided, while in winter it can bear temperatures even close to zero.

The fruit also known as "Dragonfruit or Pitaya" weighs from 300 to 900 grams and is edible. It has an oblong shape, with a white and creamy pulp that contains tasty black seeds inside. It can be enjoyed raw and pure or with a few drops of limon, it is especially used for smoothies and cocktails.

Talee molto mature, non talee giovani.

Questa varietà del Dragon Fruit è tipica delle foreste tropicali, è diffusa in tutta l'America centrale, Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala e Messico, e anche nel nord dell'America latina. Ha un portamento strisciante o rampicante, sviluppa dei fiori molto grandi, lunghi fino a 30 cm e la fioritura normalmentee avviene la notte. Lo stelo ha forma triangolare e raggiunge un diametro di 10-12 cm. Gradisce posizioni molto luminose per tutto l'anno anche se il sole diretto in estate dovrebbe essere evitato, mentre in inverno sopporta temperature anche prossime allo zero.

Il frutto detto anche "Dragonfruit o Pitaya" pesa da 900 a 1200 grammi ed è commestibile. Ha una forma oblunga, con la polpa bianca e cremosa che contiene dei gustosi semini neri al suo interno. Può essere gustato a crudo e puro o con qualche goccia di limon, è usato specialmente per frullati e cocktails.
