Original Photograph Original ca. 1920 Wiele & Klein of Madras photograph of Master Manhar Barve, a child prodigy from India, shown in a striking full-length portrait seated with what appears to be a modified banjo.  The photograph measuring 14.5 x 10cm, on original photographer's card mount with embossed border reading "Master Manhar Barve / Infant Prodigy of Music / Bombay, India" to the lower margin.  Edges of mount toned, some stains to verso and a few creases to photograph and mount, overall very good. 7 x 10 inches [18 x 25.5 cm] overall.Barve was a popular teacher in Mumbai.  "Barve was primarily a vocalist but also played ghungrootarang, kaach tarang, jaltarang, and kashtarang.  He also taught tabla in his class."
