How the Grinch Stole Christmas "On Becoming a Reindeer" Limited Edition Cel #107/500 Signed by Chuck Jones (MGM, 1966/1993). "So, he took his dog Max, and he took some black thread, and he tied a big horn on the top of his head!" The Chuck Jones-directed 1966 special How the Grinch Stole Christmas is approximately 25 minutes long without commercials, and by 1993, production cels from this animated classic were becoming very limited in availability. Due to this, Chuck Jones (1912 - 2002) created a drawing that was used as the basis for a limited edition cel titled "On Becoming a Reindeer." The cel was released in an edition of 500 and sold out almost instantly upon release. These brilliant images of Grinch and Max are larger than in production cels, with the combined image of the two measuring about 9.25" x 7.5". The scene that inspired this edition is found at about the 9:30 mark of the special. The cel is displayed on a print background for presentation purposes. This hand-painted cel is very difficult to find today. The cel bears a Linda Jones Seal on its lower left corner, and it has been signed by animation legend Chuck Jones on its lower edge and on the matboard. Two signatures! What an image! The iconic piece is framed to 25" x 22" with a matboard aperture of 15.5" x 12.25". This is #107 of only 500 copies, and is in Fine condition. COA included. Frame sold as-is.
