This is a Royal Copenhagen Blue Fluted Full Lace Open Work / Pierced Fruit Basket / Bowl, Number 1/1054.

It is an old and very beautiful version of this hard-to-find, wonderful piece. The striking pierced, open work border, and the basket weave patterning on the side make it a very special and sought-after design. The painting by painter number 31 is particularly nice.

The dish is factory first quality, made and hand painted in Denmark in the period 1923-1934.

The dish measures approximately 7 1/2 inches in diameter and 2 3/4 inches tall.

The antique dish is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Minimal signs of use/wear -- I see no obvious surface scratching.  There is a significant firing mark / firing defect at the open-work side of the bowl in one place. See photos 5, 6, 8 and 9. This 'iron spot' occurred during factory production during the second firing in the wood fired kiln. Interestingly this was not enough of a defect to change the first quality designation of the dish... or it was missed. It does not detract much from the beauty of the piece in my opinion. There are some small discrete glaze variances on the bottom of the basket. See last 2 photos in particular.

It is a wonderful piece that belongs in any blue fluted collection!
