This is a vintage sample of barbed wire fencing.   This sample features a Joseph F. Glidden patent, dated November 24, 1874. This wire is called "Glidden's Two Point Barb on Round and Larger Grooved Oval Lines" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 382-B).  This wire features two twisted together line wires.  Barbed line is round in cross section, the non-barbed line is larger and a flat grooved oval.    Sample shows light oxidation.  Sample is 18" in length.  There are six barbs.  Barbs are well spaced and cut is well centered.  There is some light bending of points, but no broken or missing points.
