Graptopetalum are succulent perennials that are easy to grow in pots, coastal and rock gardens.
All species of these very decorative and persistent succulent plants are equipped with a very small root system composed of small fasciculate roots as thick as a hair.
The aerial part, on the other hand, tends to form dense and large tufts formed by numerous rosettes of leaves carried by thick and succulent stems or stems which tend to lignify in the lower part at ground level. The stems are gray-green in the upper part, brick gray in the lower part.
They are succulent plants that generally love bright and sunny places for many hours a day.
The optimal temperature for cultivation generally must not be lower than 5-8 degrees with the exception of Graptopetalum paraguayense, which also resists temperatures close to -5°C and which for this reason can also be grown outdoors in the northern regions Italy. A colorful succulent plant with fleshy rosettes up to 15 cm wide composed of pointed fleshy leaves ranging in color from pale blue to light purple.

Tutte le specie di queste piante grasse molto decorative e persistenti sono provviste di un ridottissimo apparato radicale composto da piccole radici fascicolate spesse quanto un capello.
La parte aerea invece tende a formare densi e larghi cespi formati da numerose rosette di foglie portate da steli o fusti spessi e succulenti che tendono a lignificare nella parte bassa a livello del terreno. I fusti sono di colore grigio -verde nella parte superiore, di colore grigio mattone in quella inferiore.
Sono piante succulente che generalmente amano i luoghi luminosi e soleggiati per molte ore al giorno.
La temperatura ottimale per la coltivazione in genere non deve essere inferiore ai 5-8 gradi ad eccezione della Graptopetalum paraguayense, che resiste anche a temperature prossime ai -5°C e che per questo motivo può essere coltivata anche all’aperto nelle regioni del nord Italia. Una variopinta pianta succulenta con rosette carnose larghe fino a 15 cm composte da foglie carnose appuntite il cui colore varia dal blu pallido al viola chiaro.
