The book was hand printed by Richard Edwards and Roderick Shaw at the Barn on the Hill over St. Columkille's, a master printery and publishing house of the period which became a major influence on printing and book design in Australia.  It was printed in Garamond 12 point hand-set by Richard Edwards and was hand-bound by Leo Cullen in a lively floral printed fabric, possibly linen.  It was illustrated by Roderick Shaw with a hand-coloured frontispiece, 7 full-page lino cuts in various single colours, and 26 separate line drawings scattered throughout the text.  It was printed on thick creamy-coloured paper and contains 32 numbered pages in addition to the frontispiece, title page, and signed page.  There are 2 blank pages.

Many copies of the 600 print run, including nos. 1-10 of the signed copies, were later destroyed by water incursion.

The book is in a very good condition, perhaps an exceptional condition given its age.  The hard board covers and the binding are sound.  The fabric covering is clean and vibrant, although the spine is a little faded due to exposure to light.  The printed label on the front board has some grazing consistent with having been kept on a bookshelf.

All of the pages are clean and unmarked, with no creases or tears.  The endpapers are clean, with one minor mark on the front papers and two on the back.
