13% and 25% filters are widely available but Sky's the Limit are the only business in the UK offering a 50% transmission filter.  The figures refer to the amount of light passed through the filter hence a 13% filter blocks out 87% of the light and a 25% filter blocks out 75% of the light.  Our filter blocks out 50% of the light and also allows 50% to pass through.  Lumicon are the only other people we know of selling a 50% filter at quite a price.

It is particularly recommended for the smaller aperture telescopes where a 13% or 25% filter blocks out too much light and is not at all useful in observing the Moon.  Used with either refractor or reflector telescopes, this ND50(0.3) (Neutral Density) moon filter is a very useful addition to anyone's collection.  It fits into the threaded end of an eyepiece and allows the observer to look at the moon more easily.  It will cut down the glare from the moon to 50% which will make it much more comfortable to view especially when there is a lot of the moon in your field of view.   Although it is a grey filter, the moon will not appear grey - only reduced in its glare intensity. The filter has a clear aperture of 44mm.

We test each filter and measure the amount of light transmitted through it.  Here is the transmission graph of the actual filter you are bidding on.  If requested we can also supply the measurements taken on our Avantes spectrometer that produced the graph.  You will receive the graph shown (without the watermark).

You can see from the graph that this filter also has very good Ultra Violet blocking characteristics.

These filters can be stacked to multiply the filter intensity.
