Battle Fever J is one of the oddest anomalies in the long history of Tokusatsu. Battle Fever J was the result of Marvel's short lived licensing contract with Toei. Beginning in the late 1970's Marvel optioned off several licenses to the Japanese market. The first production is the infamous Kamen Rider styled Spider-Man (stylized as Supaida-Man); which had a mixed reception, and lead to both companies  getting cold feet over the deal. Other heroes considered by Toei for Tokusatsu shows included Moon Knight made as a spiritual successor to Gekko Kamen (Moonlight Mask) and the super obscure Jack Kirby 3D Man which would've been similar to Kikaider and Robot Detective K. The 2nd and final Toei Marvel coproduction was Battle Fever J . Battle Fever J started as an adaptation of Captain America, however quickly became part of the Super Sentai / Power Rangers super team series. Captain America was replaced by the obscure Atlas / Golden Age Marvel character Miss America. The Character of Miss America would later be adapted America Chavez.  Battle Fever J is notable for being the first Sentai series to have a combining robot.
