Hi! You're looking at a SUPERB condition book which is OUT OF PRINT and a fascinating collection of writers seeking intellectual and political freedom in China written by GEREMIE BARME and JOHN MINFORD--the book is a softcover copy.  This book is in SUPERB condition and the book has a slight ding on the upper right tip of the book's last pages and upper left tip of the back cover, a single, slight crease on the spine end and just slight shelfwear and slight evidence of gentle browsing otherwise but NO other significant flaws!   The book is titled Seeds of Fire: Chinese Voices of Conscience and it was edited by GEREMIE BARME and JOHN MINFORD with a foreword by ORVILLE SCHELL; it was published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux / The Noonday Press in 1989.

For the newcomer to contemporary dissident Chinese literature and politics, this large anthology provides brief, often fascinating, glimpses at about 80 Chinese artists who want reform, not destruction, of the present government. Almost all the artists represented here have suffered either imprisonment, house arrest, or artistic suppression because they chose to discuss artistic freedom, women's issues, labor camps, sexuality, the situation of peasants, or torture in prisons.

A fantastic find, and a beautiful copy of this book!

Thanks for looking, and good luck if you're bidding! Also be sure to check out all of my other great books currently listed on ebay auctions--I can combine shipping for multiple purchases!
