This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing.   This sample features a Thomas H. Dodge and Charles G. Washburn patent dated January 24, 1882.  This wire is called "Dodge & Washburn's Four Point Barb on One of Two Lines - All Aluminum" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 556-B).  This wire features two twisted together round aluminum line wires.   Barbs are four pointed made from two aluminum lines. Two barbing wires are wrapped together around one line wire.  Line wires are then twisted together.    Wire sample shows light use wear.   There are six barbs.  Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered.   There is light bending of barbing wires, but no broken, or missing barbing points.
