This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing.   This sample features a Joseph F. Glidden patent dated February 8, 1876.  This wire is called "Glidden's Two & Four Point Combination Barbs on Un-Twisted Square Line" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 37-B and 138-B)(Variation - Book listing shows the two barbs but not both on the same line.)  This wire features a single heavy gauge non-twisted line wire that is square in cross section.  Two barbs are four pointed and the other one is two pointed. Wire sample shows moderate pitting.   There are three barbs.  Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered.   There is some bending of barbing wires, but no broken, or missing barbing points.
