Welcome!

Original armchair intended for the Bank of Czechoslovak Legions - Legiobanka.

On the back side, the chair is marked with a metal plate "B.Č.L. No. 6442", on the underside with a paper label "LEGIOBANKA No. inv. 1544" and a separate number "1544".

Historical context:
The Rondocubist building of the Bank of the Czechoslovak Legion was designed by the architect Josef Gocar (1880-1945), who also designed the equipment and inventory of the building.
Based on this, it can be considered that this armchair can also come from his work.
We contacted some specialists about this chair and no one can confirm Josef Gocar as a designer of this piece, some assume this chair could be also from Joze Plecnik circle.

Condition report:
t
he chair is in very good, shows just typical age and use, the wood is still solid.
