TOTAL WEIGHT:   3.4Grams James Avery is a Texas-based jewelry manufacturing company. The firm is known for high-quality, moderately priced jewelry made in sterling silver and karat gold. The company was founded in the 1950s and remains family-owned and -operated. James Avery founded his namesake company in 1954 in Kerrville, Texas. He started in a two-car garage where he set up a workbench making Christian-themed designs. Avery sent out his first mail-order catalog in 1957. He also hired his first employee that year, Fred Garcia, who assisted with all aspects of fabrication and trained many other metalsmiths working for the firm as it grew. Garcia remained with James Avery until he retired in 1977. James Avery's son Chris took over the business in 2007, and he is currently the chief operating officer and president.
