Up for sale are DVDs featuring complete Season 1 and complete Season 2 of the action-packed TV Series "WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE" -- starring Steve McQueen.

This was the hit television series that launched the career of big-screen legend Steve McQueen. Josh Randall (McQueen) was not a typical seedy bounty hunter of the Old West; he was a consummate gentleman who always gave half - or even all - of his reward money to charity. He was a man of few words, and he carried a Winchester sawed-off shotgun, which he wore on his belt and fondly called his "Mare’s leg."

The Season 1 DVD set includes all 36 episodes plus a wealth of bonus features, including show history, a McQueen biography, three "series analysis featurettes," photo galleries, and the A&E Biography segment "Steve McQueen: Life in the Fast Lane". Image and sound quality varies from excellent to average, and three episodes that were badly "colorized" in the 1980s are also included. They're proof that colorization was a bad idea, but they indicate the extra effort that was made to provide features that “Wanted” fans will surely appreciate.  The four discs have their programs on both sides of the discs and they are index on how they are laid out on a bi-fold cardboard card that was included in the set (see photo #6).

The second season release features all 32 episodes from the 1959-1960 season. Steve McQueen returns as laconic bounty hunter Josh Randall as "Wanted: Dead or Alive" moseys into its second season. As in season one, the best episodes are graced by the presence of some of Hollywood's best supporting actors. Kasey Rogers, later to play the wife of Larry Tate (David White) on Bewitched, is seen as a frontier bride in "The Matchmaker." Future spaghetti Western stalwart Lee Van Cleef plays a condemned man whom Josh must safely escort to his hanging in "The Hostage." "The Empty Cell" features Lon Chaney Jr. as a highly suspicious lawman, while Star Trek's Deforest Kelley shows up in the same episode as a wily crook. Star-in-the-making Dyan Cannon pays her acting dues as the moll of a bank robber in "Vanishing Act." And Martin Landau, six years removed from Mission: Impossible.  Note the Season 2 DVDs have their programs printed on one side only and slide into paper sleeves.

Both DVD sets were purchased new by myself and each episode watched once. Following watching an episode, if I did not wish to watch the next episode at that time, the disc was immediately removed from the player and carefully stored until I was ready for the viewing of the next episode in the series. I liked to spread my enjoyment of this series out over time.  The photos in this listing are of the actual DVDs up for sale.
