OFFERED ... a beautiful eggshell porcelain demitasse cup and saucer made in Nippon Japan; circa pre-WWII (1939-1945).  It is classic blue-on-white with a Cherry Blossoms or Sakura motif.  The saucer measures 4 3/8" in diameter; the cup measures 3" top diameter and 1 1/2" in height.  It is ever so fragile; you can see from the photographs how thin the porcelain is.  Amazing it has survived all these years in this very good condition.  In researching the hallmark on the bottom of both cup and saucer, I found that the rising sun logo with the horizontal and vertical marks, positioned as they are, date the set pre-WWII.  Had the horizontal characters been reversed, it would have been dated after 1945.  Translated, the horizontal characters mean Nippon Japan; vertical characters mean Japan Special Made.  A lovely set for the collector.
