For your consideration, this large plate with raised (in relief), design of a porcupine with a crown above and flowers in the circle around the rim, which measures approximately 10 1/2 inches. PLUS a BLOIS porcupine which goes so well with the plate. The porcupine is 4 1/2 inches long, 3 3/4 inches high. One quill does have a small chip but the way it's made, to me it isn't noticeable. If anyone desires a photo, please let me know.

This features the emblem of Louis XII, king of France (r. 1498–1515), who inherited the emblem of the porcupine from his grandfather and maintained its symbolism of invincibility to particular effect in the circumstances of the Italian wars and the reconquest of the Milanese

This is the first time I have seen one in this raised (in relief), design and it is signed Geo Martel for DESVRES French faience. A truly unique and special piece.
