This is a Rare - Scarce - Seldom seen pre Green Howards regiment of Richmond in North Yorkshire military belt buckle on its original leather belt.

The buckle is a silver - nickel like white metal and it has the Yorkshire Rose in the middle and good wording around

1st NORTH YORK RIFLE VOLUNTEERS

It does come on a leather belt but it's very worn and splitting, with the two adjustment smaller buckles at either end of the leather too.

No maker's marks or the impressed number like you often find on the backs of these buckle which marry up both halves etc.

In 1860 the 1st North York Rifle Volunteers Corps was formed so is this belt from that period since it does NOT have the word Corps on it ? The Green Howards of Richmond are also known as The Princess of Wales Own ( The Yorkshire Regiment ).

The only item I can find on google was a Queen Victoria young head portrait 1st North York Rifle Volunteers silver medal on ribbon engraved to Private Robert Hicks 1861 and for The Fitzwilliam Challenge Cup Inst. Oct. 1859.

Please see photographs provided for more details and visual confirmation of condition for yourself.
Normal signs of age and use wear on the belt buckle itself.
As mentioned, the leather belt is very worn and discoloured.

The belt buckle measures approx. 85mm x 55mm in total when closed.
Just the badge part measures approx. 45mm in diameter.

My stock ref : LVT/April23 in Green Howards cabinet.

This is a rare Yorkshire Regiment belt and buckle and worthy of being in any military collection.

Most of my items are sent using the Global Shipping Program due to Royal Mail being really quite useless at actually delivering parcels worldwide for the last 8 months, which gave me and my customers a truly diabolical service of which I am still chasing up delayed post.

Global Shipping Program does not allow coins to be sent which is a little bizarre, is that because they do NOT trust their own delivery people to keep charge of the packages whilst on route ? So coins will be sent using Royal Mail.

Scale is usually an English 1 penny coin which is 20mm in diameter which is just short of 7/8ths of an inch in diameter, or a universal Coke can, and we all know how big those are.

If you see A/F = a/f in the title or description it means "as found" condition which may have scuffs, scratches and damage. In relation to all my listings it does not mean " about fine ". I have used A/F  for " as found " for 45 years.
