The 7th Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, also known as the "7/17 Air Cavalry," was a unit of the United States Army that served during the Vietnam War. It was a part of the 1st Aviation Brigade, which provided air support and reconnaissance for ground operations.

The 7/17 Air Cavalry was primarily equipped with helicopters and played a crucial role in the air assault and reconnaissance missions in Vietnam. The unit operated a variety of helicopters, including the UH-1 Huey utility helicopter and the OH-6 Cayuse observation helicopter.

The squadron was involved in numerous operations throughout the war, including the Battle of Ia Drang in 1965, which was one of the first major engagements between the U.S. Army and the North Vietnamese Army. The 7/17 Air Cavalry provided vital air support during this battle, transporting troops into and out of combat zones, conducting aerial reconnaissance, and providing close air support with its helicopter gunships.
