La Mamelle, Inc. / Art Com was a non-profit arts organization, publisher and exhibition space, active from 1975 through 1995, and was located in San Francisco. The organization's first venture was publishing, eventually becoming a venue for some of the most imaginative examples of West Coast conceptual and performance (time-based) art. It would be a mistake to trivialize this journal's importance as just another art magazine. It is far more than that, often containing visual and textual records of works that are profoundly interesting to artists but often undocumented elsewhere.
