Welcome!

Original antique tile with rich faience ornament.

Historical context: "This tile was most probably decorative part of tile stove. Most likely younger - not early production.
Semicircular shape indicates it's possible localization in the corner part of tile stove plinth - middle part or the highest part.
There is the absence of plastic decoration but it has rich faience ornaments.
Faience was brought from territory of Germany to Moravia by group of anabaptists called Habans.
In their works dominated the same yellow and blue colors.
Pure painted tiles are not often seen, this style could by manily seen on kitchen ceramics - for example jugs and so on.
Centrally located animal is most probably a domestic pig - according to central band and tail.
The meaning of letters "P" and "G" below the animal could be the monogram of maker or indication for Prague.
I compared this tile to tile with similar artwork technique dated for 17th century, but I personally think this piece is younger."
