This is a MARRIAGE watch. A marriage watch is the term used for a new, modern case that has been used to house a pocket watch movement.
In a modern stainless steel watch case, an experienced watchmaker installed an original mechanism LeCoultre and original dial from a gold pocket watch Pavel Bure from the time of Tsarist Russia at the beginning of the last century. The watch manufactory Pavel Bure was the official supplier of the royal court, so in its watches it used only the best Swiss watch movements. A characteristic feature of the Swiss mechanisms supplied by the Pavel Bure watch factory was the presence of the Russian letters P and U on the pendulum assembly. The LeCoultre movement used in this watch is of very high quality even today, despite its age (over 100 years). And the LeCoultre watch brand laid the foundation for the well-known and prestigious brand Jaeger-LeCoultre today.
Pavel Bure (Buhre) was one of the famous watch companies in Europe, which made watches in Tsarist Russia for just over 100 years. The company was founded by Karl Bure, a Russian businessman of German origin. The history of the Bure watch company began in 1815 in St. Petersburg, where Karl Bure moved from Revel with his son.
Bure watches were also issued as a reward to officers and non-commissioned officers in the Russian army.
Bure watches impressed buyers of that time with their original design and high quality. In 1917, the revolution put an end to watchmaking in Russia.
