This is not a whole Obi

Beautiful panel from a Vintage Japanese Fukuro Obi.

This piece of vintage silk comes from a Japanese Fukuro Obi, a formal sash worn by women at wedding or other ceremonies.

This piece of silk Obi has a beautiful "Junihitoe Princess and Cherry Blossom" design on a salmon pink base. The Lady is dressed in the style of a Lady of the Henian Period, in a many layered (at least 7) Kimono, worn by Nobility and Ladies of the Court at this time and is shown sitting with her back to the viewer, her long hair falling freely over her shoulders and across her robes. The silk is beautiful with a rich, reflective silver shimmer and shine to the surface which changes the look of the design depending on how the light hits the surface of the silk.

In great condition with just some creases (see detail photos) from storage and wear.  It has a few minor weaving faults on the lady's Kimono

I have not ironed this piece.

Measurement: Approximately 11.5ins wide by 17.5ins long

You could use it to make a table runner, wall hangings, bags, centerpieces of patchwork, cushions or any other craft or quilting project.
