THE iconic must-have Muhammud Ali Esquire magazine! Designed by George Lois.

This is the controversial Muhammad Ali cover that led to him being stripped of his heavyweight title and banned from fighting.

The image depicts Ali as Saint Sebastian who was martyred after converting to Christianity.
Tied to a stake and shot at with 6 arrows, he survived, went out into the street and helped a blind girl regain her sight by converting her to Christianity.  The idea for this shot came about after Ali refused to join the US Army’s fight in the Vietnam War because of his recent conversion to Islam.

Cover design by the great art director George Lois and Carl Fischer.

A spectacular Art Kane photographic essay entitled An Introduction to Soul - see pic.  Runs 12 pages.

Why Dean Rusk thinks he's right.

Cassius Clay talks about his exile.

Most Swinging GOLF section ever, 17 pages.

Truly fascinating feature on the Tonkin Gulf Incident that will bend your brain with regards to the history of the Vietnam war...
