This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing.   This sample features a Joseph F. Glidden patent dated November 24, 1874. This wire is called "Glidden's Two Point Paired Barbs on Both Lines in Alternating Sequence" by  collectors. (ref Hagemeier 326-B).   This wire features two twisted together round line wires.  Barbs are two pointed made from round wire. Barbing wires are wrapped twice around a line wire.  Barbs are on both lines and are in alternating sequence with paired placement. Wire sample is 18" in length and has four barbs.   Barbs are well spaced, and cut is fairly well centered. Wire shows light to moderate oxidation.  There is some bending of points, but no broken or missing barbs.
