This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing.   This sample features a John H. Bains patent dated April 29, 1902. This wire is called "Bain's Reverse Wrap Large Crimped 'H' Barb Close Spaced" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 217-B).   This wire features two twisted together round line wires.  Barbs are two pointed made from a round barbing wire.  Wire is bent into a staple shape, and "U" of staple crimped between line wires, and each leg  crimped over and around the lines.  Wire sample is 18" in length and has seven barbs. Barbs are closely spaced.   Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Wire shows moderate oxidation.  There is some light bending of points, but no broken or missing barbs.
