The lens has the resolving power to clearly depict the subject and the softness of the bokeh that smoothly leads from there. This medium telephoto lens is ideal for portraiture. Abnormally low-dispersion glass is used to suppress colour bleeding and achieve high contrast and sharpness. The Aero Bright Coating, which has a higher transmittance than conventional coatings, is also used to achieve high image quality with better clarity and less flare than ever before. The lens features a circular aperture for beautiful bokeh, dustproof and drip-proof construction, and the AF system is dedicated to SDM.
Angle of view equivalent to 84.5 mm in 35 mm format
This is a medium telephoto single focal length lens with an extremely bright large aperture of 1.4 F-number and a 35 mm format equivalent angle of view of 84.5 mm. Ideal for portraiture and other photography.
Aero Bright Coating
The newly developed Aero Bright Coating provides excellent reflective performance over a wider range of wavelengths. Transmittance is significantly increased, further reducing flare and ghosting that can affect image performance.
Beautifully soft bokeh
The latest optical design and the use of a circular diaphragm take into account even the bokeh effect, making the most of the shallow depth of field that is typical of large-aperture lenses to achieve a beautifully soft bokeh effect.
Dustproof and drip-proof construction
The lens is dustproof and drip-proof, with seals applied to all parts to prevent water droplets and dust from entering the lens.
Quick Shift Focus System
After focusing in AF mode, turning the focusing ring immediately switches to manual focus. This eliminates the need for time-consuming switching operations and ensures smooth operation.
SP (Super Protect) Coating
A special water- and oil-repellent coating is applied to the front of the lens. This coating is effective in protecting the lens surface, as it is dirt-resistant and easy to clean off.
Dedicated digital design
The dedicated design optimised for the characteristics of digital images suppresses ghosting and flare. The image circle is specially designed to the size of the image sensor, resulting in a compact and lightweight body size for a large-aperture type.
