UNPLAYED 2-CD SET. This item does not come factory sealed. Originally issued in 1969 in an edition of
less than 100 copies. First reissued in 2005 (Lion Productions 601). This
edition issued in 2013 and includes, as disc 2, Live At Levittown Memorial Auditorium,
1974, first issued in 2005 (Lion Productions 602). Includes a 24-page insert
booklet with band history and photos and comes in a heavy stock gatefold
mini-jacket. For this release the original tapes have been newly remastered and
include all the same tracks that appeared on the previous issues (the first two
bonus tracks on disc 1 were previously listed as untitled on the earlier edition).

Louis Yovino, Dennis Pennaga, Ray Lesch, John Willems, and Vincent E.
Kusy; later members included sometime keyboardist Tom Doncourt and Fred Callan
(both of whom would go on to form Cathedral, issuing the album Stained Glass Stories in 1978). TRACKS, DISC 1, Setting

DESCRIPTION:
Once upon a time, when the music business was more music than business
(but only just), there was a lean, mean, and super tight band who created a
quintessential dose of New York sixties psychedelia: One perfect album, loaded with heavy swirling
organ, ferocious fuzz guitar, and powerhouse vocals. That band was Odyssey.
Their album, Setting Forth, did not
take them from support slots in their native Long Island to the major label
heights of other local bands like Vanilla Fudge. But it is that same Odyssey Setting Forth album that is one of the
greatest guitar-heavy psych records in the world, and as a result one of the
most sought after (and expensive) psychedelic rarities ever pressed on wax. Now
it has been painstakingly remastered, repackaged for this 2xCD deluxe edition,
ready for true psych fans to devour. This is truly one of the pinnacles of
underground psychedelic music, recorded in 1969, released in an edition of fewer
than 100 copies, and impossible to find as it only came in a plain white
cardboard sleeve; an incredible, musically accomplished, hard rocking album of
originals that jumps right out of the speakers and grabs you, from it’s opening
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida-esque riffs right
to the grooving end. The 24-page booklet that accompanies this two-disc set has
the complete band history by Odyssey leader Vinny Kusy, as well as rare photos
from his own archive. Bonus tracks on disc one are three basement recordings from the Setting Forth era. The second disc
contains Odyssey Live at Levittown
Memorial Auditorium: 1974, a live recording that was never really meant to
be, recorded by Odyssey’s sound engineer on a portable cassette recorder. It is
the only document of Odyssey in their progressive rock phase, just before
sometime Odyssey keyboardist Tom Doncourt and band-member Fred Callan recorded
their legendary Cathedral Stained Glass
Stories album. One of the ten rarest psych albums from the USA. Sleeve notes
by the group's leader and keyboardist Vinny Kusy. Odyssey Live at Levittown
remastered by Tom Doncourt of Cathedral. This 2xCD set comes packaged in a
Stoughton tip-on gatefold mini-jacket, with a 24-page booklet and enclosed in a
clear mylar outer sleeve.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
All CDs come sealed in
standard jewel cases and are US releases unless noted otherwise. Mini-Jackets,
digi-paks, and variable packaging will also be noted. Any item that does not
come sealed or include an outer sleeve will be placed inside of an outer sleeve
at the time it is received by me. All
items that do not come in an outer packaging wrap are inspected by me prior to
shipping. It is not unusual to find small/tiny imperfections on the play side
of the CD disc, especially on European manufactured CDs; these small
imperfections do no affect the playback of the disc. Also an unsealed jewel
case may show light signs of warehouse/transit storage wear on the outer
surface of the jewel case. If an unsealed jewel case is received by me broken,
it will be replaced with a new jewel case before shipping; sealed CDs received
with minor cracked/damaged jewel cases will be noted as such in the item’s
description and will be shipped as is.
ABBREVIATIONS:
SS or SLD: Still Sealed or
Sealed. Short abbreviation that will appear in the title line of my listings.
This item is new and unplayed. Also appears in the listing description as
Sealed CD or Factory Sealed CD.
NEW CD: This item is new
and unplayed, but was received from a supplier without being shrink wrapped or
cellophane wrapped; more common on imports but also many of the smaller
independent US labels do not seal their CDs; some have it both ways (for which
I have no prior knowledge of or choice when placing my orders). Other companies
use resealable clear outer sleeves which are used on some import and domestic
releases. If I receive an item this way it will be shipped as I received it and
not opened up. Items received unwrapped are placed inside of a resealable clear
outer mylar sleeve at the time they are received.
GFC or GF: Gate
fold cover, refers to a style of mini-jacket CDs.
S/T: Self-Titled
2/1: This
denotes that 2 albums are on 1 single CD.
RE: Reissue. Variations from the original pressing will be
noted when known.
REMAST: Remastered. More specific sourcing will
follow within the item’s description when available.
OOP: Out
Of Print.
MIX: This sometimes
appears in my title line and refers to a group's/artist's music having a mix of
styles such a rock track with jazz then followed by a straight rock track
followed by a psych rock track, etc., as opposed to a blues album with the
album's tracks having predominantly one style.
XT, XTKS, or #XTKS: Usually in lower case type as part of the
title line, denotes bonus tracks on this release (extra track, extra tracks, or
the number of extra tracks).
ULC, LRC, etc.: Upper Left Corner, Lower Right Corner, etc.
used in referencing the area of a defect or blemish to the jewel case or
packaging.
