The collection coin «Komuz» of the series «National musical instruments»
The Kyrgyz national music originates from ancient times. A number of beautiful legends, poems, stories, striking by its depth of artistic expression, were handing down from generation to generation exclusively by word thanks to a unique, Kyrgyz instrument - komuz revealing the life of the Kyrgyz people, its expectancies and feelings, happiness and joy, life and death. The folk songs having a special place in the Kyrgyz folk art, accompanied by komuz reflected both bright events and everyday life of the people, customs and traditions, children's lullabies.
The komuz is a three-stringed, plucked instrument, made from a single piece of apricot, walnut or mahogany, the length of the komuz does not exceed 85-90 cm.
The komuz is widely distributed in the professional art of the Kyrgyz; professional komuz players are called «komuzchu». Komuz also accompanies the singing of akyns, except solo performance, komuz is used in ensembles of the Kyrgyz folk instruments.
Collection silver coin «Komuz» of the series «National musical instruments» was issued by the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic to popularize the spiritual and cultural values of the Kyrgyz people.
The main plot of the obverse side of the coin is the image of the komuz. The central part of the coin shows the denomination of the coin (10 COM). The left side of the coin specifies the name of the coin «Komuz» and the alloy of metal (Ag 925°), on the right - the name of the coin in Latin letters «Komuz» and the weight of the coin (28.28 g).
On the reverse of the coin, there is depicted the coat of arms of the Kyrgyz Republic in the upper part. In the center - an illustration of the image of a komuzist playing a komuz, framed by a stylized form of a musical instrument. The lower part of the coin gives the year of the coin issue (2018), the left side - vertical inscription in Kyrgyz «National musical instruments».
