The London Coliseum (also known as the Coliseum Theatre) is a theatre in St Martin's Lane, Westminster, built as one of London's largest and most luxurious "family" variety theatres. Opened on 24 December 1904 as the London Coliseum Theatre of Varieties, it was designed by the theatrical architect Frank Matcham for the impresario Oswald Stoll. Their ambition was to build the largest and finest music hall, described as the "people's palace of entertainment" of its age.

Perhaps one of life's little mysteries?].

Victor Glasstone - architect and Theatre expert, created this work in an effort to safeguard the London Coliseum from demolition. Amazing isn't it? - This is explained more fully in the 'General Introduction'.

The list of 50 illustrations refer to the 50 slides that accompany the work. They are complete, numbered and housed in a special presentation box, with the publishers details on the top of the lid.

The booklet itself, is aged. It's an A4 booklet bound by a ring binder. Pages are all present. Some are lightly soiled and one page is creased at the top [text is not affected].

All in all, this is a fascinating piece of work.
