Antique Salt Box
Description:
Presented for your consideration is this antique salt box (or salt crock). It is made of stoneware pottery and features a blue stenciled design and lettering around the front. Across the front reads "Salt" and the wording is sandwiched between two ornate vine bands. Ornate vines are at the left and right sides as well. The design works sits against a natural grey background. The back has a molded in hole to easily hang the salt box on the wall. There are two smaller holes which would have originally held a lid. No lid is included. Finished with a smooth glaze. Guaranteed to be old. Would make a nice addition to any stoneware or primitive collection!
There are 3 small surface chips on the bottom edge. A manufacturing flaw line is on one side and on the bottom interior. Some light crazing is present throughout. Some light staining is on the interior. No cracks. Free of any significant chips. Typical wear from age and use. Overall in VERY GOOD condition. Please refer to the photos for the best details.
Measures 5 3/4" in diameter and 5 5/8" tall.
