Historical Notes:

A pentagram (sometimes known as a pentalpha or pentangle or, more formally, as a star pentagon ) is the shape of a five-pointed star drawn with five straight strokes. The word pentagram comes from the Greek word πεντάγραμμον ( pentagrammon ), a noun form of πεντάγραμμος ( pentagrammos ) or πεντέγραμμος ( pentegrammos ), a word meaning roughly "five-lined" or "five lines".

The star (Pentagram) has used with many different meanings. The most likely one may be the one ascribed by the Pythagoreans or Christians. The Pythagoreans believe it to be the symbol of the origin of all creation and called it "health" and "perfection". The Christians believed the pentagram to be a symbol of the five wounds of Christ and possibly a protection symbol, as well as a symbol of health. The most-likely interpretation that the wearer gave to the ring was health and protection.
