BESCHREIBUNG
Originale, gut erhaltene, dekorative und kolorierte Kupferstichkarte von Deutschland in den Grenzen
zur Zeit Karl des Großen. Es zeigt das Gebiet von Nord- und Ostsee im Norden bis in den Süden an die Alpen
sowie einen kleinen Teil von Italien. Im Westen begrenzt von Holland und der Mündung des Rheins.
Im Osten bis an die Weichsel.
Oben links große ornamentale Titelkartusche in Rollenwerk. Links mit großer Legende der Städte zur Zeit
Karl des Großen. Rechts unten mit Widmungskartusche an Abraham Ortelius, nach dem diese Karte gefertigt wurde.
Die Karte stammt aus der zweiten deutschen Ausgabe des "Newer Atlas, oder Weltbeschreibung,
und vollkommene Abbildung aller unterschiedlichen Königreichen, Länder und Provintzen …",
der erstmals von Mercator und Hondius publizierten Ausgabe von 1633.
Deutscher Text verso mit großer Holzschnitt-Initiale.

DESCRIPTION
Original and very attractive historical map of Germany in time of Charlemagne. The map was concepted
after the map of Abraham Ortelius. It shows the area from the North Sea and Baltic Sea in the north
to south of the alps and a small part of Italy. In the west is Holland and the mouth of the Rhine.
In the east is the Weichsel river.
With large ornamental title cartouche and legend with the towns and cities from the time of Charles the Great.
In the lower right a cartouche giving mention that this map was made after one by Ortelius.
The map Comes from the second German Edition "Newer Atlas, oder Weltbeschreibung,
und vollkommene Abbildung aller unterschiedlichen Königreichen, Länder und Provintzen …",
at first published by Mercator and Hondius in 1633.
Text in Latin verso with large woodcut initial.

Wide rimmed.
CONDITION
In good condition. Strong and very decorative print. Very nice colouring in manner of contemporary style.
Map continuous brownish, in the margin stronger brownstained. Strong handmade paper.
